Deconstruction films are defined as films that take apart their respective genres, forcing the audience to not only question why we are watching it, but also the particular filmmaking techniques and tropes.

Films focused on satire are often also referred to as “parody”. They usually pay homage to the work that came before, imitating them in more comedic forms.

Back to the Future Flying DeLorean Quadrotor

This custom-made machine accurately replicates Doc Brown’s DeLorean from Back to the Future, down to the glow-y parts, tilted tires, and Mr. Fusion propped up in the back (though, sadly, it’s really being powered by a Lithium Polymer batter. Alas…). Watch this thing travel without roads in the video below:

Take a peek at Tim Burton’s discarded ‘Superman’ from the ’90s. For $30 million, not a single frame was shot, possibly because of this bizarre costume made for star Nicolas Cage (or because the star was Nicolas Cage).

A Tim Burton take on Superman… With Nicolas Cage as the star…

Part of me actually wants to see this.

The TRON light cycle is now a reality and looking damn good. If you have $55,000 to drop, this beast could be yours. Available now at Hammacher Schlemmer. Check out the videos below to see it in action, User!

“This is the illuminated, street-legal motorcycle inspired by the computer animated cycle from the 2010 film Tron: Legacy. Designed for casual cruising and slow ride-bys at shows, it is made from a steel frame covered by a fiberglass cowling that replicates the sleek look of its computer-generated imagery counterpart.”

I have yet to be disappointed in a short by the Gobelins. This is no exception.

Shorts from Gobelins are an inspiration to me.

From Dan Rickmers (of the “Mathematical” video recaps)

yamino:

 Yamino asked:

Since you asked for suggestions, maybe you could ask for donations to keep you afloat while job hunting and/or perhaps fund your next project, whatever it may be? I’d gladly promote it and donate to the cause. =) Also, what is your experience and skills in working with cartoons? Maybe some of my contacts will be useful to you. =)

Dan Rickmers replied:

Donations would be awesome, but there’s actually this short film I made a few months ago where you can donate anything you want and get the film as well as the soundtrack (which is really awesome and made by this chiptune artist Doctor Octoroc). It all goes to supporting me so even reblogging and getting the word out about the trailer is helpful, if not throwing a few dollars my way to watch the whole thing and/or help me stay afloat.

http://oneringfilm.tumblr.com/film

There’s a link. I wrote, directed and did special effects on that. It’s kind of a Lord of The Rings parody crossed with cheesy indie rom coms.

As far as working with cartoons, I can storyboard and have experience with Flash, though I’ve mainly been paid in the past to do audience development/engagement stuff like Mathematical that involves building and audience and interacting with them on a much larger scale than creators really have time for.

If you take Mathematical, the episode recaps I made and distributed ended up being MORE popular than the full episodes people put out, which was something I didn’t think would ever happen. Even so, my forte is creative work, so if you have something specific in mind (any of you), please don’t hesitate to ask!

I’m donating, and signal boosting!  If any of my followers have any networks to forward his info to, that would be great.

Please reblog! =D (Preferably hit “reblog as text” so the full text is posted.)
